The Virgin Islands were divided in two during the 17th century, at which point the islands were split between US and Danish Territories. Formerly known as the Danish West Indies, The Virgin Islands are located in the Carribean east of puerto rico.
The flag depicts an eagle with an olive branch in one claw and three (3) arrows in the other, symbolizing peace and security. On the eagle's chest is a shield with red and white vertical stripes under a blue panel. To the left and right are the initials V and I. It is made of durable 100% Liberty nylon, finished with canvas heading and brass grommets.
